Dads ol dodge

That might be true but you have to look at the benefits, a rocker setup that is far superior, larger lifters (allowd more aggressive lift rates), stout blocks and steel cranks. My last Chevy build cost $4,500 for 450 hp because everything needed upgraded to handle it were my current B block cost the same for 500 hp because I started with an engine that would handle it in stock form even the heads (ported).

Think of it this way "747Mopar" . At least your just dealing with rust normal rust and rot . Can you imagine if you where dealing with someone else's bad body work as well ? Been there done that "way" to many times . o_O

I will tell you one thing b/rb parts aint to cheap! I am looking at aluminum heads and need to play the lottery!
Yeah , I know what you mean . I priced them out when I was building the motor for the warlock . That's why I still have the iron heads on it .

I haven't posted in a while, I've had parts out for blasting leaving me with nothing to do but here's the updates. Got the cab and bed back, no surprises with the cab other than a couple pin holes showed up in the rockers...... The bed is a different story, very depressing! I'll be removing the whole entire rear support (structure under the tail gate), there's pin holes all threw the inner bed sides and patches needed everywhere. I went ahead and epoxied everything to keep it from rusting because I'm going to welding for a while!

Spent all night patching the inner fenders, now I can say I at least have 6 pieces of the truck that are rust free now! 1 piece at a time..........

Yah know "747Mopar" ? I know it gets frustrating when you find unexpected stuff like the pinholes . But keep at it , your doing a hell of a job and I know your Dad will appreciate all the work your putting into his truck as well as know the quality of your workmanship . Just my two cents .

Hear, hear! True that... Incredible frame off build! Wassup Bear!
747, you have only one Pop's, he will be so proud, wish I could be there to see his face when you present him the completed truck. You are both very blessed to have each other.
Merry Christmas.

Finally fixed what I've been puting off, this is not a fun repair but this time around I did a little better than on the other side. Here's what came out for a pattern..... pretty bad!

Here's the replacement after about a half hour, pic doesn't show all the weird transitions and angles.

The inner rocker was surprisingly really clean, just a light blasting cleaned it right up for some weld threw primer.

And the finish product, this booger slides between the floor and extends into the inside of the cab so like I said... fun

On a cool note, I did some looking around and found that Summit racing (I'm only about an hour from them) has a better selection for sheetmetal than LMC and at a good prices as well!!!! Might sneak up there and buy him some panels for Christmas? This has me rethinking patching the rockers when $35.00. Sherman Brand.

That's some nice fabrication skills there 747mopar. Good job. Going to look great when you get it all done.

I picked up a set of rockers off eBay that look like real nice repos. The price was right too. Haven't got to installing them yet but will be once I'm back in action.

Just an option if your looking.

Your only about an hour away from Summit ? I'd be in BIG trouble and broker then I am if I lived that close . lol With Sherman brand panels , I've found some of there stuff to be real good and others to be not so good . So just a little advice and give them a good look over before you pay for them and pay close attention to the gauge of the metal there stamped from . Just a heads up and please let us know what you think of them after you see them .

Being so close gets me in trouble from time to time LOL.

Well my brother and I went in together and picked up both right and left floor panels, both rockers and the left rear floor panel for dad for Christmas. I bought the Goodmark rear floor panel originally but what a POS, didn't resemble anything on the truck??? It's half the price of the Sherman panel for a reason.......... it's complete junk but after trading it in for the Sherman I was happy. I'll let you guys know what I think of the Sherman panels but so far from what little fitting I've done the rockers look good but end shy of a complete rocker on both ends, the floors are nice and fit well except they lack the correct contour to follow the tranny hump and the rear floor patch looks really good other than excessive wrinkles in the metal but who cares..... it's a floor!

Yeah , I've had issues with Goodmark panels myself . To the point where I took one look at them and refused to use them . It's hard getting quality panels for these trucks . I've also found out that a lot of these panels are designed to be just a cover up ( so to speak ) instead of a real replacement panel . I'm sorry , but if I have to deal with rust or rot , I want to get rid of it and replace the panel and not just cover it up . I'm glad to hear your liking what you got with the Sherman panels . Like to see them when your done . Merry Christmas . :D

Here's a pic of the miserable Goodmark part next to the Sherman one that actually looks and fits the way it should.

The Sherman Floors look really nice, very happy with them.

Only issue with the floors is that they don't fit the tranny hump contour but that's easy enough to trim up and get fitted. Unfortunately this floor is gone all the way to the tranny hump and past the front edge of the floor panel so a little extra patching will be required.

Here's the rear section in place, pretty nice other than all the wrinkles.
