That's a car I would love to have. If you haven't seen the movie Two Lane Blacktop (TV movie from the late 70's early 80's) check it out. They steal and stuff a Hemi into one of those Willy's and raise hell. And again , not a truck but this is my dream car and it's a "real" one . View attachment 8952 View attachment 8953
Yup ! When was the last time you saw one of those ?That a Stude?
The Movie was "Hot Rod" made in 1979 . It's one of my favorite gear head movies . "Two lane blacktop" had a primered double nickel in it . Still a good gear head movie . I think one of the beach boy's played a roll in that one .That's a car I would love to have. If you haven't seen the movie Two Lane Blacktop (TV movie from the late 70's early 80's) check it out. By the way , That willy's was a "real" one with a steel body , vin numbers and everything . It's not a kit like most of them you see . That's always been my dream car for as long as I can remember .That's a car I would love to have. MOPAR , It's the "only" way to fly ! lolLOVE that ole Willy's! AND its got a HEMI in it too! -I bet that makes that lil car haul ass!!!! LOL
Thanks , I try to get good angles and such when I take pictures . It was a really good show . I think this is the third or forth time we've been to this one . The people that throw it have always been friendly to us and there's always a good group of rides there . To top it off , when you enter , they give you two tickets . One for lunch and one for ice cream and the ice cream is "killer" . It's funny , the first time we found this show , it was by accident . We started out by going to a show down in RI back when we had the Dart . We get down to the town it was supposed to be in and couldn't find it . We stopped and asked a cop where this address was and told him that there was a car show there . He said that , that was across town and he had seen a couple of hot rods inth e parking lot earlier that morning . He ended up giving s a police escort thru town to were it was supposed to be . lol We get there and there wasn't a sole to be found . So we decided to back road it back home to Mass . We made our way back across the border , just cruising , and I saw a sign for a street rod show . We pulled in and asked if we could pull in and check it out . Us having a 70 figured we'd have to new of a car . They welcomed us with open arms and when we pulled in , there was a little bit of everything there , Not just street rods . Since then , every time we've been there it's been a nice relaxing show with always something new to see .NICE camera work Bear!!!! Looked to have been a great show no less!!! I think the truck I seen that caught my eye was I BELIEVE a '58 or '59 Chevy.... (OMG A Dodge Guy.....) Yeah the '55 to '59's Chevys, I have a soft spot for 'em, worked on one that was '55 and the looks of that truck was something when it was done!
Ah shit, I got my primered race cars mixed up. That's right, Hot Rod from 79, not the crappy other movie with the same name made recently. The Movie was "Hot Rod" made in 1979 . Dam ! Another one that's into ole gear head movies ! I like it , I like it !Ah shit, I got my primered race cars mixed up. That's right, Hot Rod from 79, not the crappy other movie with the same name made recently.
Two Lane Blacktop started James Taylor, Dennis Wilson (the one who hung out with Charles Manson), Warren Oates (Sgt. Julia from Stripes), and Laurie Bird. They had 3 55's for filming, two cars with a single 4bbl carb, for the inside car filming and outside filming as they are driving along. Then they had a car that has 2 4bbls on that tunnel ram. That car was a legitimate 10 second car, which when filmed was probably none of the fastest street cars at the time. The guy who built the cars was in the movie, he was a mechanic at a gas station they stopped at early in the movie, the one who had a Thames panel truck. My friend and I will quote the one liners from that movie all day and into next week, so many corny lines.
One things bout those engine shots, the hood needs to be up! I know at a lot of smaller shows like the cruise one, people don't bother opening the hood. They park their car and head out to see what everyone else brought, head back to their car and head out. I still have to get back to the drive in I used to frequent every Thursday. Started out small now it's the place to be in that area. Got a local place (45mins) and one another 30 mins past that that I haven't gotten to yet.NOW to just have ya get GOOD engine pics too to go with them. you'd be doin' REALLY good! BUT ya done well on camera angles and positioning of the cars.... Sometimes positioning and or angle at times can be difficult if the cars are stuffed in like a sardine can!
Saw it less than an 1/8 mile, know my phone well, and yeah, got lucky with a few shots real quick. I can't believe the amount of old trucks, most in good shape, that I see down here. I do it for you guys and gals.NOW THAT sir is some dedication, and reflexes!!!!! LOL
