Parking Brake Blues

RE: 1996 Dodge Dakota 4x4 3.9 Liter 5 speed. After changing out the parking brake pedal (which was releasing all by itself at times!) with a not quite so worn out wrecking yard piece, the primary cable snapped. Installed an NOS cable which did fine until today when everything went slack again (see fotos).

This clip/hanger that holds the cable in place on the passenger side of the vehicle is just hanging down loose now. I have a couple of questions for anyone in the know:

#1) I notice the clip/hanger has one side shorter than the other is that correct? Or should both "hooks" be the same length (which means the short side snapped/broke off)?

#2) Where exactly on the frame does this clip/hanger attach (see second foto)?

Today I found a similar piece at a local wrecking yard from a '95 Dakota Club Cab two-wheel drive (mine is standard cab four-wheel drive). The piece I picked up is too long, but at least I can see now how the hooks on my old piece have been pulled out straight and that's why it falls out (not being secured by the bent hooks). I did find a part number #52007081 but I have been unable to find a foto of such part number, so no way (for now) to know if it would fit my vehicle.

Now help here my is 2 wheel drive. Dodge parts should have your answer.

I don't think there is a difference between 2 & 4wd, but my 2wd Regular cab cable adjuster, which you have pictured, should have a hooked long end that attaches to the hole at the very left of the picture, where the front double walled frame meets the mid section of the frame. The hook end is supposed to be longer than the other end. The adjuster should have a "J" hook on it, to hook to the frame & should be a very stout piece. There is a lot of tension on the cable when applied. Hope this helps. (I always use my parking brake)
