So here's my 80 model still in it's original tan paint. It's a bit of a sleeper. Has 408 with well ported Edelbrocks. Old Weiand xcelerator single plane intake. It's getting a freshen, a solid roller, and some good rockers. It has up to 250hp worth of nitrous. My keep the old intake, seems to work well. Full manual 727 3000 stall. Rear is a 9" ford. Narrowed housing Strange Engineering nodular 3rd billet retainer, 4.10 gear, spool, and 35 spline axles. 325/50r15 nitto drag radials. With a crappy .480 lift cam it ran 7.20 in the 1/8th miles. Gonna be a big jump in airflow with bigger cam! Should get in the 6s no problem them I'll probably hit it with 150 shot.

BIG plans brewing for the future so I'll probably do a build when that starts. Or continue this one.

Welcome, nice truck! Your correct it certainly is a sleeper, my son has a 80 S/B Utiline, dropped 3 inches with a 340 and a A833, not really a sleeper but a fun truck I bought a brand new 82 S/B Swept same colour as yours, I liked it but my wife ( G/F at the time ) hated the colour but loved the truck she said it was a old man's colour, lol I still like it !

Yeah it looks like a grandpa truck. Originally a /6 automatic. I've thought about some widened steel wheels and dog dish caps to make it more sleeper like. The stripe was originally gold and red but the gold has just fallen off over the years. I'm not 100% decided on if I'm going to put it in this truck or not but I'm collecting parts for an all aluminum 572. It would surely be a sleeper then!!

I think if you put the 572 in it won't be as streetable and you won't drive it as much? As far as wheels, both my 56 and my sons trucks have the old police wheels with bottle caps, they look great and can be painted to match for the sleeper look, I believe their 8 inch. I used to run them on my old 82 as well. I'm not surprised your truck was originally a /6, it was hard to find a v8 S/B back then, I actually had to factory order mine as all the S/B trucks on both Dodge truck lots in my town had only /6, mostly autos, so I ordered a 318 with the a833od, later I had to swap out the 291 ratio that came with it for 355,s and along with some engine mods really woke it up, wish I still had it.Good luck with your build with what ever way you go, your truck, so build it the way you want it.

I'll drive it as much as I can afford gas! Going to be a different setup than street strip. Going to put a 6 speed behind it so no putting up with stall convertor or any of that. I think street cruising be more fun that way. I'm not a drag racer just do it for kicks on occasion. I mean who doesn't want to daily a 572?? Lol
