I drive a 2012 F-350 crew cab dually with Michelin 245/75R17's, Load Range E and carry a 4,000# truck camper. Is there any benefit to upgrading to a 14 ply tire? Why or why not, please. TIA

Same tire that is on my 06 F250. I see really no good reason to. The payload have even been reached yet. Are you experiencing excessive side sway? That would be the only real reason to go with a heavier sidewall. Do you have the tires aired to their max of 60 psi?

What is tire load rating dual? Your tires r the limiting factor for hauling. E rated or 10ply s/b plenty to carry 4000lbs.

Upgrading to a 14-ply tire could have some benefits, but it depends on how you use your truck. Here are a few things to consider:

Load capacity: A 14-ply tire has a higher load rating, meaning it can handle more weight. This could be helpful if you're carrying heavy loads regularly, but if your 4,000-pound camper is within the load capacity of your current tires, the upgrade may not be necessary.

Tire durability: 14-ply tires are more durable and resistant to punctures. If you're traveling on rough roads or through areas with debris, these tires might provide more protection.

Ride comfort: A 14-ply tire is stiffer than a 10-ply tire, which can lead to a rougher ride. If comfort is important, you might not enjoy the ride as much with 14-ply tires.

Fuel efficiency: Heavier, thicker tires like 14-ply tires can reduce fuel efficiency because they require more energy to rotate.

If your current tires are sufficient for your needs and you're not experiencing issues with weight or tire durability, upgrading may not give you a significant benefit. However, if you're planning to haul heavier loads or frequently drive on rough terrain, a 14-ply tire could offer more safety and longevity.
