LA360 into 91 Dak

Mhead. Where did you order the 91 V8 pan?? I have looked for 3 years as I have a 426 stroked 340 to go in my 93.
Summit part #rnb-264-233.Now it's listed for a 360 which I have but can't remember the difference in the 340 rear cap.

I have seen people put LA pans on magnum engines. So I dont see why you couldn't put a magnum pan on a LA engine. I have a 91 Dakota sport with the cab and bed from a 96. I built this dakota because every body wanted 3 grand or more for rusted out A bodys.lol. I pretty much got my dakota for free. I call it my pro junk yard Dakota because I have body parts from 5 Different trucks in it.lol I am running a 2000 5.9 magnum engine in mine. But its not stock. Has stock bore and stock stroke though. Best pass so far has been a 11.24 at 115 in the 1/4 and 7.15 at 95.86 in the 1/8. Best 60 foot has only been a 1.57 so far. Spining of the line. I am running the full caltrac set up and need to do more tuning on the rear-end. I am using the rear axle out of a 96 Ford explorer. Which was pretty a drop in. Just had to cut off the factory spring perches and sway bar mounts. Then weld on new spring mounts and shock mounts. I have weld pro Star 15x10 wheels with 5.5 back spacing. Tires for now are hoozer 28x9x15 slicks.. AJ like what has been said you will have to weld up some mounts to put the LA engine in the Dakota.

Well, I finally went to see that free dakota, and as you might have guessed, there is really nothing left to work with. I'll keep tho.
I'd like to thank everyone for their comments, ideas, and especially for the inspirational pictures. Adios for now.

Well I'm back
I really like the looks of the regular cab shortbox. But up here, they are really, really hard to find.
Does anybody know if a regular box frame can easily be shortened?
Like what is the weight difference?
Can ladder bars overcome the handicap?
Is it worth it.
Btw,
I like the First gen bodies, but the second gen interiors.
Do the 5-lug rotors swap directly onto the 6-lug spindles?
Has anybody tried
swapping an A/B body K-member into a first gen Dakota. That would solve a few problems right?
I have a 73 A-body K.

Must be an over stock of wheels and refusal to buy new. I can understand that.

Not going over 100 and not carrying a load adapters maybe an option.
I am not sure what cars would have used this same axle housing. Pulling the axles and taking some measurements would be a first step for the rear at least. I am not sure if anyone made a conversion for the front spindles.

Ok let me give ya alittle more info. When the previous post said that a ford explorer rear was the way they were right you will have the same pattern as the 5 lug dakota and rear discs to STOP and makes big diff and all the brakes will hook up and you had the v6 so the frame mounts will work with tge spool type mounts but go to hypo tek and they have everything you need and if you want to pull the wheels they show a pic of there frame brace and these frames won't take doin that without help lol
