Gmc van power tuner

Its a 2010,5.3 in an awd savana 1500.
Its struggling pulling trailer up an incline, buddy wants me to put in a 6.0 litre
I suggested open up air intake and exhaust and add a tuner.
So what if any power tuners actually work?
Mechanic by trade but too wrapped up in repairing, never get to make anything go.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Intake, exhaust and tuner will help, how more power is he looking for? Those mods will probably get him 20 hp maybe. Depending on how much he wants to spend, he may want to go with a supercharger is one is available.

Yes i was thinking 20 hp too.
I suggested a different tow vehicle but he likes his awd.
