So, I have done a few things to help with my testing process. long story short the sending unit in the tank has issues but I have not gotten to it and replaced it.
I measured the ohms, before I filled it and it had about 40 ohms. I started to fill it and noticed that the ohms nor the gauge was moving, so that meant the sending unit was not moving or signaling correctly.
I then took the gauge and hooked it up to a known good system in another truck and it read fine. so that tells me I need to repair or replace my sending unit.
