Favorite truck of all time.

What's your favorite truck of all time? No matter how neat and clean, practical or whatever the case may be, no wrong answers here. For me, the truck that probably started it all is a 1978 Ford Bronco. The Black, gold, tan fade paint job that was so classic late 70's early 80's. I still remember vividly all the local trucks coming out to pull out a late 70's Ranger. Ford's and Chevy's and maybe even a Dodge, all waiting their turn to show what they had. There must have been 35-40 trucks that showed up (good old days when a CB still was a requirement!). It forever left the impression that makes me love trucks to this day.

"Nice" body style ! I've always loved that year Ford truck . I even owned one for a short time . It was a 78 black on black lifted 4x4 with a fresh 351 under the hood . The only issue I've ever had with Fords is that pretty much every one that I've owned , I blew up . I can work on other people's Fords and have very good results , but for me to own one personally ? I just can't for some reason .
 
I think what sparked my interest in trucks is when I was about 13 years old and the body shop I worked at had a 3/4 ugly as all heck Ford pick up for a shop truck . I wanted that truck is the worse way but my boss wouldn't sell it to me . So then I tried to buy a lifted 64 GMC suburban off of the boss's friend that he stored in the back yard of the shop . But he wouldn't sell that to me either . It wasn't till years later that I got my first truck which was the 79 lil red I had and then a couple of years after that is when I got my first 4x4 which was a 78 Ramcharger . After owning those two trucks , I was hooked .
 
Don't know if I can name a favorite, but my first was a 54 Chevy 5100 5 window my Dad gave me. Small caveats included, like install a different motor, replace all the glass, reupholster the seat - and when you're done with that maybe sand/prep/paint it. Had a whole lotta fun with that old rig.
 
I am far from conventional here but have a fond spot for the USAF Minuteman missiles transport tractors.
Two steering axles and three drive axles. Sixteen tires on the tractor alone and V12 powered.
Many not have been much to look at but was a beast to drive.
 
Now if I were to build my dream daily driver . It would be a 77/78 Dodge 4x4 either club cab or Ramcharger . It would be either black or dark gun metal metallic with black interior , smoked windows , lifted with something like 35" mud tires , definitely have A/C for the hotter days and for an engine I'm not a 100 % sure . I keep changing my mind on that part . At time's I think a Cummings , then I think a warm 440 , then I start thinking of a Mag , carbed 360 with somewhere around 400 HP or so getting about 20 or so MPG .
 
My first truck was a 77 full size Jimmywith a 400 and 3 shocks. I've always loved short wheelbase trucks that are bouncy.
 
Still have parts of the first truck. It looked like a 59 Chevy and that was about as far as the GM aspect went.
 
Mine would have to be a buddy of my brothers had a 79 lil red I always had off brand trucks but a road runner or another mopar in the garage and when I finally got my first dodge truck it was on and no looking back I have had two warlocks one 440 powered macho numerous big block trucks and a lil red I am currently building a 1980 w150 short bed for a daily driver and going to look at 2 lil reds this weekend we have issues lol
 
My first truck was a 76 C10 4x4 i beat that thing to death and it kept going, however i remember when i was in the USAF stationed in Homestead [1980] i lived in an RV trailer in a KOA and this guy came in with a Chevy C30 Dually crew cab gasoline powered truck lowered [slightly] with dual exhaust running glass pack muffs that thing just blew me away and from then on i wanted a Dually, in 1995 i finally bought a brand new silver Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins Dually what a truck put it to work and in 2000 i bought a used white 98 quad cab Cummins sold the 95 had the 98 till 2012 and an electrical meltdown totaled it that's how i got the one in the avitar the green C10 was my first full custom built truck it was done in 8 weeks.

NICE TRUCK ! ! :wideyed: The wheels aren't quite my style , but as far as the Ramcharger it's self ,"YES !" . :D More details "PLEASE" . :)
 
I help my son built the Ramcharger. He died of cancer in 2007. His wife sold the house and move back to her hometown, 400 miles away. The picture is when I deliver the Ram to her place. She never finish the truck and sold it a few years later. Never saw the truck again.....

.....we start the project with an original 4X4 Ramcharger, 440 cu. in., automatic. The engine, transmission and the front and rear differentials were professionaly rebuit. We find a good body (with A/C firewall) in Pennsylvania and add up every factory option we can: tilt steering, cruising control, A/C, canvas top,etc....

...the wheels and the color of the Ram,Go Mango, are from a 2005' ish Dodge Ram ''Daytona''.....

...the 1978 Ramcharger came with a tan interior and my son wanted black leather, so the front and rear seats were recovered.........


My son sold his 1968 GTX, 440, 4 speed to built the Ramcharger....
