Any Lil Red owners have these stripes?

I own a survivor 1979 and it spent all its days in Arizona, it doesn't have the extra striping. Dealers were always willing to add options that weren't not on the original or factory parts lists. Somebody obviously fitted the sunroof and guard Giles so why not extra stripes and the Warlock woodwork to make it different. Sales staff will always do anything to secure a sale.
The only options mine had was factory black buckets, with AC (standard options) and a tow hitch as I believe it had a camper rear added for some time of its life.
Oh, yes somebody replaced the original wheels before I bought it.

As you know, YH6 is the sale code for the Lil' Red but it didn't gave the code number for each options. It just say: ''Gold accent tape stripes for front and rear wheel openings''

Warlock sale code is GK9601 for 1978 and GK9602 for 1979 and it says: ''Special Exterior and Interior Tape Stripe Package''.

In 1978, the Lil'Red were built in Canada: 2,188 for USA with 360 cu.in.
2 for Canada with 440 cu.in.

In 1979, all 5,295 Lil'Red were built in the USA with 360 cu.in.

Needless to say we search hi and low to find one of these two 440 Lil'Red, but with no success!!!

It's my understanding that both of the 440 trucks were destroyed. Since a vertical stack exhaust system for the Lil' Red was never released by the factory, the two trucks were built without any exhaust system and taken to a local muffler shop near the plant with pipe bending equipment to be custom made.

The factory literature supports the stripes being original. And they are slightly different than the Warlocks. The extra wood in the stake pockets is not original, as far as I'm concerned. Yeah, they'd remodel your kitchen to sell a vehicle. Any color whatever option, you could get it, albeit sometimes you went through a lot to accomplish that goal. Now you buy what they want you to buy.
 
I like the woodgrain extra's sets BOTH trucks off nicely! Now is that a "dealer" offering to make the sale or could you (back then) custom order that for the truck you were buying? As sometimes, I think we all forget that way back when, you could special order where as today, forget it, unless its aftermarket..... The OEM factory doesn't do the "special order" thing anymore.... Which is sad in a way, BUT also would require a LOT more employee's to do so making cost a bit higher to pay for the item! -Like Mob said, you buy now, what THEY what you to buy!

While there aren't a lot of variations in factory installed options from the assembly plant, the "factory" sanctions a lot of factory supplied, dealer installed options. Many dealers devote some display space in their showrooms for a variety of wheels, radios and other goodies. Many manufacturers also print a separate accessories catalog.
 
The truck was in Minnesota for quite a while, I'll see if a title search is something my friend wants to do.
 
Being on the subject of stripes and vehicule you can order back in the day, I have a little story about a 1969 Hemi Charger, if I may..........

.....I got married at 21 in October of 1969 and in November go to Trois-Rivières Chrysler to order a light blue with white vinyl top, white interior, 426/4 speed but with NO rear transverse stripe.

I lost my job in December and went to the dealership to tell them I won't be able to buy the Charger and they say: don't worry, somebody else will take it!!!

In the nineties, Galen Govier said that all the Charger Hemi were R/T (XS29J...) except ONE 4 speed light blue (XP29J...) with white vinyl top sold new in Montréal.

Is it the Charger I ordered??............Don't know!!!!

I was under the assumption that ALL the "stacked" trucks got 2.5 inch stacks. Whether the 360 or the 440.....

As for the trucks and the questions, did the 440 get a special "pie tin" to say "440 Express" like the 360 did?

-I never seen the 440 "stock" in one to say yes or no!!!!

Anyone know?
 
The Midnight Express was a single Dealer manufactured one-off truck, it was sprayed Black by them with the Gold fleck through it. They fitted up LRE Stacks and Woodwork along with a few other LRE extras. Most I believe were all Big Block Trucks, some had Stick Shifts not all Auto's. So a 440 LRE could have been a Pilot Truck to test the waters with the buying public or a well heeled purchaser who wanted something different.
 
Freshly restored, and they put the Warlock side pocket wood in. The before pic didn't have them installed.
 
-Yeah the Li'l Red didn't have the bed side wood grain... altho it woulda been a bit nicer I think for "looks"....
