Seems to only do it when cold....dealer 'adjusted' something and it worked ok for awhile. Another Colorado did the same thing. No one seems to know what's up with it. Upon take off (cold engine etc) and it goes to shift into 2nd, it acts like it goes into neutral and of course, I automatically let off (pun intended) the gas and it then goes into second. From then on, it's fine. Anyone know what's up with that?

8 or 10 speed? I haven't heard of too many issues with the 10 speed, but the 8 speed has had some issues. GM started using Mobil 1 LV trans fluid because of shudder issues and they have programming updates for shifting issues

The owners manual only covers the 6 and 8 speed and the 8 is supposed to be standard in the Z71 package. Don't think the 10 speed was available for the V6....? Someone posted a link to the issue and GM is saying there's no fix for it.....

Has the trans been reprogrammed? I would have the Dealer install the latest and greatest if it hasn't been.

I wonder what they "adjusted" at the dealer since it's all electronic
Excerpt from a service bulletin....

Cause....... This condition is due to the initial clutch fill time of the 2-3-4-6-8 (C4) clutch.
Information........Some customers may experience a flare condition on the first 1-2 shift of the day or after the vehicle has been parked for several hours. The condition may have developed after the replacement of a complete transmission assembly or the replacement of the stator support to correct a delayed engagement condition. This is most likely to occur under light throttle conditions. Subsequent 1-2 shifts have acceptable shift feel. Replacing transmission components will not correct the condition.

Correction.......Important: Replacing transmission components or complete assemblies will not improve the condition. The first 1-2 shift of the day may be harsh. The customers’ vehicle should be compared to a like vehicle under the same driving conditions. Do Not replace any parts for this condition.

Note: This condition will not impact the designed performance or reliability of the vehicle.

We took it in recently because there were times that you couldn't get the key out of the switch and mentioned the transmission issue....they replaced the shifter and key removal hasn't been an issue and they also said they 'took care of the transmission' too. Go figure.
