1979 Dodge Lil Red Express Truck Restoration

I'd say that with almost 7000 miles, you did a good job on the engine.

Decided to try to repair the polypropylene (plastic) gas tanks for both my stepsides. The gooped up one was a crack someone fixed but started to leak, and the other one is the tank that was on the black truck. Didn't think I'd be able to fix that one but it came out ok. Gotta use polypropylene to fix these or the repair just won't hold.

Also, I did do a video of this on YoutTube:

Only why I have gotten polypropylene to weld and hold was adding more of the same material. Simply melt it in.

That's how they're made, melting plastic as it rotates. I used to make Hummer fuel tanks and we would fix them the same way when they had pinholes, just melt some into the hole until it's good.

Don’t use a torch, be fixing a bigger hole

I just found this thread and really enjoyed the read through. I have had my Grandfather's 1978 Lil Red since 2015, I have it stripped down to bare frame and have been neglecting the progress. This thread rejuvenated my interest. Nice work!

My grandfather once said, “just keep picking at it” in regards to big projects and eventually it’ll be done.

Let us know on here if you start a thread…that’s awesome that you still
