I leave them, but you can take them off, they just keep the gaskets in place until you install the cover.

I'd say that with almost 7000 miles, you did a good job on the engine.

That is sweet! I'm still waiting for my buddy to get around to fixing a door for me so I can start the '70s sheet metal swap. In a couple weeks it'll be a year. I've tried to bring it home a few times but he promises to get it done. Enough is enough, time to get it and fix it as best I can.

glad you're getting it figured out. But as far as dicounting two bad new parts in a row....when I worked at the IH dealer parts dept., we handled Delco Remy starters and altornaters. We used to go thru stacks of them just to find one good one. So it does happen.

I have seen on several forums that Rock Auto has a booster rebuilding service.

Never heard of timing the motor. But remember, just because a part is new, doesn't mean it's good with todays Chinese lack of quiality.

Hit e bay for the manuals. Lotta factory books out there. And several Face book groups on the trucks. Agree on the brake chambers. Nice score BTW!
