my dad passed before Xmas and I got his 1994 Dodge 2500 2 wheel drive diesel-auto, it has 109,000 miles on it and always under a roof. Has a nice camper top on it from the start. Not sure what it’s worth but it seems they’re low balling the appraisal at $2000 (which is ok to me not having to pay taxes). Does this sound ok?

Sorry for your loss. I agree appraisal seems to be low. Imo it's worth three to four times that especially being a diesel even if it is 2wd

Who is "they" doing the appraisal?
I'd give that for that truck in a heartbeat.
Even though it is white which seems the only color that's available when I need a vehicle. My last 3-4 in a row have been white.
But for that price of I'd make an exception.
Look at CL, marketplace and see what others are selling theirs for. That'll wake you up real quick and realize that whoever values that truck at $2k wants to buy it themselves and make a killing off of it at your expense

First, sorry to hear about your dad, I’ve been through that too. As far as the truck goes a diesel 2wd up here , even a rusty one commands a high dollar, a clean low mile one would be at least 12k in my town, I realize values are for some reason a little less down south, however I would question weather or not the appraisal you have took the diesel low mile motor in account? Like you said it’s good for you for tax purposes BUT IF you were to sell it then you should expect MUCH more, maybe you could find a purpose for it and keep it but keep in mind diesel trucks are made to be driven, a lot.

Exactly what I’m thinking, I have an 06 24 valve, wife's 05 Dak, a 88 D 100 and now this one. I’m pretty sure I’ll keep pops truck (it can tow the 24’ enclosed as good as the 06) because no rust (except in back bumper) I put on 4 new tires before driving it 400 miles from SC last week. 06 and Dak are 4x4 so the 88 is odd man out (excellent truck no rust)
Appreciate the info.

You might be able to get $2g's for that 88... Be a nice even trade so to speak, get your $2g's there and keep the 3/4 ton....

Yep, I did a lot of extras on the 88, tilt steering, cruise and verible wipers, new bumpers, grill and headlight doors, fuel pump, new brakes and tires.

If it's clean you'll get more than that....
My thoughts would be some high school kid would love that truck. I've had several of them
89-90-92-93-94 and still have my 96.
The 89 i had long enough to rebuild the trans on and flip. Then there was a 91 I had for like 3 days long enough to gut and tow across the scale. Really rusty one. Got it for its a500 trans and the '714 (same heads exactly as the coveted 302 casting number heads every body wants for their 318s) supposedly had a bad fuel pump yet I tow dolleyed it home put a jump pack on it and it started right up... Old guy didn't want to pay to have a pump put in because it was so rotted out.
I got a full tank of gas with it when gas was $5 a gallon around here. .. that was $100 right there.
I paid $200 for it, dolleyed it home on Tuesday, stripped it and took it over the scale Saturday morning. I got $200.10 for it over the scale can't make that up.
Plus a full tank of gas, the trans the heads, plus the 91 only 318 serpentine belt setup and a few other odds and ends I needed for the 96... And still got my money back.
Oh yeah still have the 96. My son decided to put a plow on it a couple of months ago. I was against it because the frame is more than a bit crusty. I've had that truck almost 10 years and it's been a great one. That one and my 93 were the best of all the Dakota's I've had though I don't think I've had a bad one.
