My plan was to put a 440/833/9.25 W/355 Sure Grip into a SWB D100.
I purchased a BB Bell Housing # 2468372 because I have a B-Body 833.
Come to find out that there was 2 different retainer sizes for the car Bell Housing.
My Trans is a 68/69 B-Body and has the smaller retainer bearing.

I also have a Truck 833 OD that I could use when I find this 4039670 Bell Housing.
or a BB Car Bell Housing for the smaller bearing retainer.

there is an adapter ring made to size the different ones together . small trans to larger bell hole . the od trans is larger than both earlier ones .

Thanks Paul,
I was wondering if there is something like that around.
That would save me a whole lot of hassle.
The last piece I needed to do this swap was a bell housing,
then when I mated it to my 833 and saw the gap.
The OD trans was just a back up if I couldn't use my B-Body 833

Do you have a link or name where I could get one?

well that od trans is weak anyway , gears aren't as good as the earlier b body one . try a bell housing scatter shield company like lakewood ect... maybe just google an adapter ring for an a833 mopar trans .

but i just thought about this , your bell housing is a car one , for which flywheel ? i thought the larger retainer ring input shaft was for the 440/383 with a 143 tooth flywheel . the smaller one was ealrier 383/426w/440 used a 130 tooth flywheel . 426 hemi was 172 tooth . what flywheel do you have ?

I don't know off hand, i will have to look. This Bell Housing is for a 10.5.

The Bell Hosing is the early 65-66 BB with a large retainer ring hole. My 68/69 Trans is a small retainer bearing.
2468372
10-1/2" clutch A-833
1965-66 B-body C-body 361 383 413 426

that should be a 130 flywheel 65-66 361-426w . well you never know with used parts that have been around for some time , i've modified a lot of parts over time myself .

Your right its the 130 tooth flywheel.
I just found this info about the Bell Housing:

10.5" big block bell housing to fit 383 67-9 A-body Barracuda/Dart and 383 1966-7 B-body (will also fit 1965 B/C- body) cast #2468372, 4.354" bearing retainer diameter, use with 130 tooth flywheel.

The flywheel I bought is for a externally balanced engine because its a 77 440.
I have a BB 435 Truck Bell Housing and will be putting that in a SWB 4x4 with a 435. Thats what I bought the flywheel for, I think its 11 inch with the dual size pressure plate mounting holes. so it wont work for this project anyway.

thats a body 67-69 bb are rare bell housings . and thats the small retainer ring size 4.354 . your trans is smaller that that ? and on your f/wheel . are you using a cast crank 440 ?

Yes, the 440 is a cast crank engine from a 77 D300 Dually.
The only 130 tooth flywheel for a externally balanced engine is for a 360.
All the engines in the era of when that Bell Housing was built were internally balanced.
So will I be able to use the 120 tooth 10.5 360 flywheel?

When I mated the housing to the trans, I could take the tip of my finger and run it around the gap.

I would happily trade that rare A-Body BB Bell Housing for the dual pattern BB Truck one described above.

no on that 120t flywheel . any 130t flywheel can be weighted for your cast crank engine by a engine shop . and how well does your bell housing line up with the trucks z bar from the clutch linkage ? well your trade idea is a good one but that bb duel pattern bell is just as rare i think .

Do they go by the book or do I have to take my crank in?
Yeah, the BB Truck BH is just as rare.
He gave me a B-Body Z-bar with the BH.
I have several Z-Bars from different configurations.
BB,SB,6 Cyl, 2 and 4 Wheel drive.
Plus various styles of z bar BH pivot brackets.
I should be able to come up with something.

I can't believe someone here hasn't done this swap before.
or at lease attempted it and can tell me the problems they ran into.
