Hey all

54 and recovering with mobility impaired,

I had a nice k1500 I shoulda stored better than in the driveway , and its unfortunate my primary mechanic for the garage stuff had a brother that I was also friendly with and we were gonna re skin it when the rust got to it - but he died of cancer while i was recovering from ankle / hip injury.

- but two months after turning 50 - ouch hip and amlke surgery and then not a good luck guy sometimes, but the good news i am looking to get back on the horse, and I got melanoma when I was waiting for surgery I got interrupted by three unreal ! biopsy say wha? I digress..

last truck I bought I was laughed at by everyone I know for paying too too much, we were all kinda tight in 2008 - I got a 1998 k1500 from a local garage 4.3l for $3500 one owner , the garage fella was his local and had receipts, 80k - at the time my buddies were buying $2000 trucks and so was I previous - but the times were changing, maybe population density ? but i had it 10 yrs

I am an odd duck my favorite trucks are the

1 - 86 K1500 305 5 speed wo/d

2- 97/98 - k1500 w/t 4.3

3- Ram ??

I had a wagon that was parked on the legally parked on the street, that got hit when parked - the loaner , I got a great Ram 5.7 that had snap the head omg laugh with a heavy foot oof - what was it ?

but the drunk driver thought they were home but not that was one more driveway

I test drover a 5.7 pre pandemic hoping it would be such a fun truck - but it wasnt -

I swear the loaner, I could take it around the corner after work bout 10:15 pm and cold rubber.. turnin the wheel right into the four lane edge of suburbia two lane each way w crowned roads , stomp it ...I might get a hop or two and some rubber and a big old laugh outta me with a little head snappin' back fun ( reminded me of the 440/6 pack buddy had) - - then we got a coating of snow and I just rode a big loop around the lot of the church on the way home

the test drive truck was 32,999$ on the window - I asked if the would install a lower rear gear in the pumpkin they said no

what was the last ram 5.7 that snapped the head before the 8 speed ? thank you

if ya got one of those or a 4.3 w/t interested

Nice! I haven't had a bike in 35 years! Never got the Harley I always wanted. I am not yet too old, but there are waayyy too many deer around here in NJ. Almost everyone I know has hit at least one. I personally know several people who hit bears!
I met a guy recently who hit 6 deer. They should allow folks to shoot them as we drive by, lol! My property is nothing but clay & rock, I don't even try to plant anything anymore.

Irony is the motorcyclist - the pre eminent safety writer for motorcyclist Lawrence Grodsky was killed by a deer in 2006 - I read oh like 5 magazines a month when I started riding at 32 - and I tend to be late, so i study on my own

It sounds like you've had a lot of ups and downs, but it's great to hear you're looking to get back on track. When it comes to buying a truck, you have good experience with different models. If you're interested in a 4.3L or a Ram with a 5.7, there are plenty of options out there.

For the Ram 5.7 issue, it's important to check the vehicle's history. Some earlier models had issues with head gaskets or engine problems, but newer ones have improved. It might be helpful to ask for a mechanic’s inspection before buying.

You can check online listings and also look at reviews for any common issues with those models. Always make sure to check the service records and get an inspection to avoid any surprises.

Good luck with your search!
