Looking for a good hood release cable for 85 D 150

Will one from a 79 work?

There are lots of different years/applications that can be made to work. I used a '77 Plymouth Volare one on my '76 D250. Cable was long enough but handle mount required adding a hole or two on the underside of the dash. If your '79 release is the "T" handled variety it is likely a direct interchange.
