installing a 2004 ram 5.7 into a 64 dodge d100.. oil pan is hitting on axle and steering rod.. has anyone experienced this and if so did you use the new oil pan from Holley? Part #302-75?

Never done one but if the Holley pan fits, you don't have much choice......IIRC, the drag link is behind the axle? Need to have the measurements from the Holley pan and do the math but will the engine sit where it should without sitting 'on' the axle/drag link?

Yes I’m trying to figure that out.. started this project not realizing I’d find a hemi for it.. I was going on a low budget build if there is such a thing.lol.. saw a video where someone re-stacked the front leaf springs to get frame lowered … I did that and now think I’ll need to stack em back to factory and that should give the room needed for the OE hemi oil pan…?

Well, if you bring the truck back up to factory ride height, will the axle and drag link still be ok if you go through a good dip in the road? You don't want things to bang together. An axle and drag link can be made with a bend in them but not sure how much that would cost. Imo, much better to find a pan that will fit and if there isn't one, modifying the pan would probably cost less. Engine swaps are always a pita especially if they are from a totally different generation imo lol

Yes you are right..pita..but the motor runs so good and auto tranny will help out the clutch leg (knee).. patience is what everybody is saying on these builds.. thanks for the comments… I’ll try to keep the forum updated when I get something working..

Is the truck in your avatar your 64? My first pickup was a 69 lwb and liked it a lot and it handled pretty good for having a straight axle front end. When I first drove a new for 72 with the A-arm front suspension, it had a too much body roll for my liking.....

Yes that is my 64…. cab, fenders, hood at sandblaster now.. bed and rear fenders next..was original 318 poly with 3 on tree..
Hopefully it’ll be a 5.7 hemi and automatic tranny in future..I did install a new power steering gearbox, it should handle good?
