If it keeps doing it and you need a new ECM, I bought one for my 04 Dakota from the place in the link below. I've been very happy with it and would buy from them again.

I too would like to know if a Magnum motor will bolt into the place of a 4.7 if the proper mounts are used. I have a 2004 Quad cab 2WD truck with a 4.7/545RFE. Someday, when the 4.7 gives up, I would like to swap in a 5.9 Magnum and 46RE transmission. I may junk around and see if I can find a...
I've got a good, old school radiator shop about an hour away, out in the sticks, that should be able to make me one. If the Dakota was as simple to get the heater box out of as our old Mopars are, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I'm 67 and the bones don't bend as far as they used to....lol...
Thanks AJ. I put a new engine in it when I bought it 5 years ago and put the proper antifreeze in it for the aluminum heads and radiator. The biggest problem with it is the heater core design. Aluminum core with a plastic tank on one end. The aluminum pipes that hook to the heater hoses on the...
I bought a new one from Advance Auto Parts when the last one busted 4 years ago. I haven't pulled it apart yet to see if it was the core that popped, the plastic tanks on the end, or the O rings where the tubes attach to the plastic tank. I've got about a month and a half before I will need the...
The engineer that designed the heater cores in these trucks needs his or her ass kicked so hard they're wearin it for a hat! Now that the rant is over, lol.....does anyone know of an aftermarket solution to the heater core problems with these trucks? It would be nice to have one that has the...
If the connectors at the amp meter are good, clean them, add dielectric grease and put them both under one of the nuts to bypass the amp meter. An amp meter is a dash fire waiting to happen.
If you can get an 11" clutch disc that fits your truck now, and lay it beside the 12" disc for the later flywheel....just check to see if the 11" disc will work with the 12" pressure plate. You can use your existing bellhousing by just cutting the notch in the top for the crank sensor on the...
Does anyone have a gas tank from a Magnum motor gas truck they want to sell? I'd prefer to find one in the NC, SC, East TN, or North GA area so I can pick it up vs shipping. I'm swapping my 88 D100 from a TBI 318 to a 5.9 Magnum. The existing TBI fuel pump won't support the Magnum and a Magnum...
I bought an 8 3/4 that came out of a 68 D100 at the N. GA Swap meet for $25, and plan to put it in my 88 D100. Measurements are the same as the 9 1/4 that's in the 88 now. Bolt pattern is different, but I will just swap the front brake rotors to get it all the same. Like was said above, a C body...
I broke the inner plastic piece for the drivers side seat on my wife's Dakota. I just need the piece the handle screws onto. My handle didn't break. Drivers and passenger side are different, and I need drivers side. My zip is 28715. Thanks.
Thanks. My buddies girlfriend works at a glass place, and can get the windshield cheaper for me. I will probably pull the old one out, since it's already got a crack in it. I will probably give the install job to one of the guys that works with her, and he can do it after hours as a side job.
Wife has an 04 Dakota quad cab, and I suspect the windshield is leaking on the passenger side. Passenger front floor gets wet every time it rains. It must be running down behind the heater box, because it's not dripping onto the floor mat. Just the carpet is wet. Definitely not the heater core...
My 88 D100 beater truck. 318, but I am putting a 5.9 Magnum in it when I figure out how to do the wiring. I just bought an 8 3/4 truck rearend for it too. Complete drum to drum with 3.55 gears. I'll swap 84 front rotors onto it to get the bolt pattern all the same, and put a set of cop car...
I think 93's did have Magnum V8's, but they were the OBD1 version. The motor I have is the OBD2, so the wiring is different. I have every piece of wiring from under the hood of the donor truck, so I just need to get a good wiring diagram from a 98 3500 stick shift truck with a gas 5.9....and sit...
