Probably no help but, sometimes I regret pulling the /6 w/3on-the-tree from my 64. Has 440/727 now. I did save everything! I found a 85ish D150? short bed with 318/4-speed. No haggling. I said yes on the spot and worked a deal but, owner backed out when I agreed to his price.
Mine is newer 2019 Reg cab Classic 1500 SB, towing pkg, 3.92, 5.7, AT. If you weren't comfortable, then OK to back out. I will say that I have regularly towed my 2800lb Ironbull dump trailer with 7000lb of rock in it. I worry more about stopping but, in tow mode and electric brakes it stops...
I’m thinking about getting Wildpeak A/T3W. I’m concerned about wet weather traction and noise. The specs looks ok. Any opinions? 2019 Ram 4x4 SB. Craig
My 2002 with 4.7, 4.56 gears and regularly driven hard but not abused. I sold it with 120k miles and no issues. I did use Mobil 1 and Wix filters. I changed it every 5k. When you're looking, try to start it dead cold. If it has loud drive train noise and a puff of smoke, you may want to...
It's been a while since I've worked on an 8.25/9.25. Have the dealer pull up the picture. Things get moved around. Do you have the 8.25 or 9.25? Round or octagon cover? Is hat is the pin for the 8.25 diff? They gave you one for the heavy duty 9.25 or vise versa? Do you have the 8.25 or 9.25...
400k is pretty cool. I hope I get long service from my 2019. Probably an O2 but, how's the battery voltage? Also, check the battery connected on the alternator for corrosion. Bad plug? That's all I have. Craig
I've always used O'Reilly Conventional Automatic Transmission Fluid Dexron III-H, Mercon 1 Gallon - D-1 Part # D-1 Line: ORO. I use it in stock and built 904/727s. I don't think an old Torqueflite cares too much.
Make some out of heavy rubber or get some for a ford/chevy of that era. I never bought anything from him but, 1961-1971 Cab Mount Set #CM6171SET. I have bought parts from https://www.vintagepowerwagons.com but, I suggest you call. Old school guys. Craig
Someone is going to chime in here that has that setup. The last one I saw was an 87 with /6. Seems it had two bolts on firewall for master, a remote fluid reservoir and the slave on the bell housing. The master pressure tube goes to the slave. They worked very well (B150) nice and smooth but...
After 17 years of good use, I just wanted my dream truck before I retired. Ram with 5.7, regular cab, 4x4, short bed, 3.92, towing pkg and night edition.
Totally agree. That's seems to be the key with the 4.7 (and the 5.7)....oil change! My local service manager said change the oil regularly. My 2002 Dakota 4.7 with 456 gears was always driven hard but, not abused. I used full synthetic, Wix and changed 3-5K. I sold it at 125K no ticks, leaks...
I was at the same place with my /6 and a833 OD. I went with a 440/727 but there are times I wish I would have stuck with the other. Make sure you have low gears with the OD. I think the last truck around 86ish, I had was a 3.55 or 3.73 but, I really don't remember.
