General Information

Here's a few pics of my '57 Fargo the day I brought it home and throughout the rebuild. I bought it 2 years ago from a lady who's Father had owned the truck for several years. She inherited the truck when her Father passed away. She had the truck towed to her place and put it in the shed/garage where it sat untouched for about 25 years until just before I bought it. I plan to just make it a driver and not a show truck at this time.

Over all the truck was very solid and complete when I got it though the box was a homemade replica of an earlier style box. I have since located all the pieces to build the correct style box for it. The drivetrain is all original with the 251ci flathead six engine, three on the tree transmission etc. It has been a challenge to build as many people know it is a one year only style and the fact that it is a Fargo makes it even more of a challenge as there were fewer of them built thn the Dodge trucks that year. The other challenge is the engine, the body is all the same as the Dodge trucks but the Fargo came standard with the 251ci instead of the 230ci engine that was standard in the Dodge. Lot's of fun
I hope to have it on the road next year!!

Comments

Looks like a complete, solid truck to restore. Good luck.
Thanks! Yes it is a very solid truck especially for being a Ontario Canada truck it's entire life, usually the salt eats them up pretty bad here. It was very complete with the exception of the grille chrome all missing and a few other small items. I was able to locate the missing chrome thankfully.

If the spark plug covers are what I think they are,,, That a hoot!! I worked on a lot of the old flat head motors. Yale forklifts used them untill the late 60s. At some time after they switched to the slant. Lots of old industral pcs. to be had there if you need them. Good find! I never get tired of seeing something different. Good luck.
